While you're waiting...
I have 4 more drawings to do until Heather's Sorrowful Poem is complete. In the meantime, enjoy some baby chicks being hatched at The Big E (Eastern States Expo) in Massachusetts last month.
Sorrowful Poem Lines 1 & 2
Finally able to take a picture in better light, I present the first two lines of Heather's Sorrowful Poem. I'm still not happy with the photos... apparently it's hard to shoot marker paper. I also finished the next 4 drawings, so look forward to that.
My soul sleeps on a sea of happiness.

I regret only my location.

Exclimation!!!
Lights! Numbers! Fantasies endure!
I turn to you! I accuse!
Bring me a whiskey sour now!
The cat purrs!
The bat screams!
Goodnight.
As I have completed the Nectar of Youth pictures (photos coming soon), here is a new poem for one of the other ladies to illustrate.
Take that Vogons.

Monday Update
Well, the "Nectar of Youth" photos have been coming along swimmingly. My drawing skills are obviously at their height, as you can tell from recent posts.
I must say that I am very excited to see my soul sleeping on a sea of happiness. When will it happen? I just don't know.
I will post another Nectar photo after midnight; anticipate!
For now, here's a chick at the California Science Center.

Tuesday Update
Well - there has been progress. On Monday, I completed the drawings for lines 1 & 2. However, the photos I took of said drawings don't make the grade. So sometime this week when I am able to shoot them in better lighting, I will post for you to mock. I mean, how the hell does one draw "My soul sleeps on a sea of happiness" anyway?
In the meantime, enjoy this picture of a chicken at the LA County Fair in 2006.

The Nectar of Youth
Oh! Beautiful Butterfly
Why do you not flitter
from flower to flower?
Enjoy! The sunlight
of your youth
Break free the bonds
that once wrapped
you so tight.
Ride! Swift upon the wind
that it may carry you
far -- far away--
away from my cabbages.
You have done damage
enough.

Break free the bonds

you so tight.
Ride! Swift upon the wind

far -- far away--
away from my cabbages.

Sunday Update
Here's an update to the status of the blog!
Kelly is working hard on those pictures and I'm waiting for a poem to illustrate. That is all.
Now, here's a picture of a chicken on the streets of LA. You know, just because.

Volume one, part one: the words
My soul sleeps on a sea of happiness.
I regret only my location.
If I were closer to you, I would know no regrets.
I send my heart to you on a river of tears.
I sense your hair is extra bouncy today.
Would but I could bounce in your hair.
The drought in my barren arms beckon to you;
As my lonely fingers hunger for you tender follicles.
This earnest verse dies at your feet.
The tenth line is here.

The begining
So, on February thirteenth two thousand and eleven, Kelly and Heather went to LACMA with some other friends to see Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant for a reading to "Ode to Happiness." It looked like this:
It was fun and then over a year later Heather uploaded the pictures from the day to flickr.
And Kelly commented on one of the pictures "ooh... heather... let's do this. i'll draw the pictures if you write the poem. :)"
(Here's the book in Kelly's lap)
"Hahaha," thought Heather. "I'll up the stakes and create a blog for this endeavor."
And here it is, muhahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!
Let's see how Kelly feels about this.
